DIVEMASTER

Introduction

The importance of the PADI Dive master to the overall PADI Training Program and to each individual PADI Instructor cannot be overstated. Dive master training is the first leadership level in the PADI system. This rating denotes an individual who:

Has a high level of diving skills.
Understands a great deal about diving theory
Has a significant amount of experience helping train student divers
Is able to assume a tremendous amount of responsibility for the welfare of other divers in his/her care

Many Dive masters will eventually go on to become PADI Instructors, and it is the experience and training gained through the Dive master course that shape their ability and attitude as professional diving educators.

To enable the candidate to effectively act as an instructional assistant to a certified PADI Open water Scuba Instructor.

Course Overview

MODULE ONE: Watermanship and Skill Assessment

This segment is to be conducted in a pool or confined open water environment. The time frame is dependent on the number of candidates, their abilities and available facilities.

MODULE TWO: Knowledge Development

The format and therefore the schedule of this segment may vary from formal classroom study to a self-directed program of study done at the candidate's convenience. Specific learning objectives and topic outlines are provided to identify areas of importance and to direct the teaching activities. Understanding is assessed through the PADI Dive master exams.

MODULE THREE: Internship

The internship module requires the candidate to act as an instructional assistant during both pool and open water training sessions.
