Dive Site Review - Koh Man Whichai Pattaya Thailand

Some would say one of the more enjoyable sites off Pattaya if yo catch it at the right time with visibility and current. Descent is directly from the boat, where the sea-bed is littered with numerous clumps and mounds of smooth porite corals. The water at this point is shallow 4m (13ft) and ideal for snorkeling. Snorkellers continue their swim towards the island; divers head off south, slightly away from the headland. Most of the corals are not in the form of fringing reefs, as with most of this area's sites, but in large patches growing up and down rock formations known as the fingers.... As you go south for about 30m (100ft), the water deepens; an elongated plateau continues for a further 400m (440yd) in a depth of 13m (43ft), rising to 10m (33ft) and beyond this are two more of similar size! You will often find turtles, rays, parrot fish, 6 banded Angel fish and a giant starry puffer around this site :)

Monthly Special

The Slingshots from Aqua Lung feature a hinged single blade with rubber bungee's to keep the hinge straight. As you kick, the blade can flex a little as the hinge opens and closes. The amount of flexing can be adjusted by shortening or lengthening the position of the bungee's. Very interesting I thought...

On the tightest setting, they feel far too stiff and, being quite long, give the impression that only an Olympic swimmer could really do justice to them. They work well on the softest setting, although when you need any real power they are far too floppy. So for me I would have liked a middle setting but It just didn't do it for me!

SO there you have it! I personally use Aqualung Blade Flex2 Fins, having put these on for the following dive it was like wearing an old pair of slippers.. Ill be sticking to these for the time being but at least i tried.

Scuba Tips - Equipment - Scuba Mask Tips

Your window to the underwater world, scuba masks are an important piece of scuba giving gear. They are also one of the first pieces of gear you’ll want to own rather than rent, even as early as your first scuba certification.

1)When buying a scuba mask, it’s very important to look at the silicon skirting around the mask. The shape of the mask must fit your face well so that it is a comfortable fit. The quality of the silicon should be good but most dive masks bought from a dive shop are higher quality silicon than is usually found in some cheaper masks and will feel softer and more flexible than poorer grade silicon.

2) Another important thing to think about while picking out a mask is the nose pocket. Different types of masks have different shaped nose pockets. Check that your nose fits comfortably in the pocket without touching your nose. This will help protect and cushion your nose as well as have necessary air pockets that’ll help equalizing and purging water out if any gets in.
