The Pattaya Dive Centre on September 15th 2007 sent out a group of diver to help clean up the reefs around Koh Manwichai, one of the Pattaya far islands. The day was a great success, we returned with a boat full of plastic bottles, car tyres, discarded fishing tackle and drift wood.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved, the Pattaya People TV, Pattaya Bay TV, all our instructors and most importantly all the divers that took part in the days event. Congratulation to Lisa, Gordon, Shaun, Per-Erik, Morgan and Casey all receiving the PADI Project AWARE Speciality rating on International Reef Clean Up day.

All profits from the days event will be presented to the Sawang Boriboon Foundation at the new South Pattaya office to help set up a sea rescue division. If anyone has any old diving equipment they would like to donate to this worth while cause please contact us and we will pass it on.

The Pattaya Dive Centre new dive boat is now completed.

The Lady-go-diver is now officially the fastest and safest dive boat operating out of Pattaya. With maximum speed of 40 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots we will get you there and back quickly and in comfort. The boat is an 11 metre catamaran with a 3.3 metre beam, powered by two 250 HP Suzuki four stroke out board motors. The cat will carry 18 passengers plus staff. The boat will be fitted with HP compressor and 40 dive tanks plus all safety equipment according to international safety standards. Here are some photos of the construction and launching.
The Lady-go-diver, Pattaya Dive Centres new dive boat was born today 26th June 2007. She came out of her shell (the mould) pictured below.
Today the 14th July 2007 the Pattaya Dive Centres new dive boat is having the top half fitted, the roof and window frames. The side panels will be cut allowing the tinted glass windows to be installed.
We are now starting to look like a dive boat, window frames have been cut and she is getting closer to the launch date.

27th July 2007. Two Suzuki 250 HP four stroke engines have been fitted to our boat. We have extended the dive platform in the centre of the engines so that divers can not come in contact with the propellers when entering and exiting the water.

August 2nd 2007 the carpenters and electricians are hard at work putting the final touches to the inside of the boat. Here you can see the seats are in place with tank racks fitted behind the seat. A TV and DVD player with sound system have been fitted in the roof.

6th August 2007 our dive boat is now almost complete, tomorrow we have the sign writers putting the company logo and dive flags on the hull. The Lady-go-diver is just waiting for the local registration and legal papers which should be completed by the end of the week, then it’s off to the boat ramp for sea trails.

After four months the Pattaya Dive Centre puts the new dive boat in the water for sea trials. Here you can see the boat being Launched in the river mouth at the Jomtien Yacht Club.
Tuesday 21st August 2007 the Lady-go-diver is afloat and under her own steam.

Sea trails have lasted three days and we are heading back to shore, our boat achieved a comfortable cruising speed of 25 knots at 4500 RPMs, topping out at around 37 knots. Test conditions where good, sea had about half metre and white caps.

Home safe and sound, time for a beer. Hope to see you all diving on the boat soon.
